Cactus Garden - Panchkula ( Asia's largest outdoor Cactus garden)



We attended morning ceremonies we left for Cactus Garden - Panchkula.

Cactus Garden, situated in the heart of the city of Panchkula. It is Asia's largest outdoor Cactus garden spread over 7 acres.





It was established in 1987, Cactus garden is known for its rare & endangered species.






The chief architect of the garden is Dr J.S. Sarkaria who donated a large collection of cacti and succulent plants. Nearly about 2500 different kinds of species can be seen in Cactus Garden. 





Its collection of Indian succulents is considered the largest in the world.



The main aim of the Cactus garden is to preserve and conserve this endangered species. Some of the endangered species found in Cactus gardenincludes a complete collection of Genus Caralluma of Indian origin.

The National Cactus and Succulent Botanical Garden and Research Centre attract a large number of tourists as well as botanists. The Cactus Show is a major show organized at the Cactus Garden. It is usually conducted in the month of March, every year. People from all over the region visit it.

 







After enjoying the Cactus Garden , we left for Pinjore to visit Pinjore Garden

  3. Nice pictures. A visit to this garden is really more of a revelation, and you come to see and appreciate cactus in a new way. You will find cacti small enough to fit your palm and some towering at 11-15 feet. Check out more facts about Cactus Garden Chandigarh also.
