Everyone looks forward to play Holi as they find this colourful festival quite exciting but I generally try to avoid the festival as it does not excite me and I am allergic to colours also. This time there was a long break during this “Holi”so my passion of ghummakri (Traveling ) was aroused in me.
So my great Ghumakkar (Traveller) friend Amit and I planned to visit some of the less explored places of Rajasthan. After a lot of brainstorming we decided to visit beautiful & well maintained Chand Baori – Abhaneri, ruined Dausa fort, Lohagarh fort – Bahartpur & deeg fort & deeg Palace.
So we packed our bags and started our ghummakri around 7.00
AM from Gurgaon for Abhaneri which is around 240 kms from Gurgaon
& 95 kms from Jaipur.
We took a left turn from Behror to alwar which is around 100
Kms from Gurgaon . Alwar is 65 Kms from Behror. On our way, before few kms from
Alwar, we had our breakfast and continued our journey for Abhaneri which is 75
kms from Alwar.
“Abha Nagari” the name
given before means “City of Joy” changed to “Abhaneri “ with passage of time
We reached Chand Baori / Step well around 11.30 AM , after parking the
car we headed to “Harshat Mata Temple” which is adjacent to Chand Baori / Step well.
This temple is dedicated to Harshat Mata , Goddess of joy .
This temple was built by King Chand of Chauhan dynasty during 8th – 9th century AD.
The temple is built on a raised platform & the main attraction is carved sculpture on the walls and pillar of the temple.
It was destroyed by Md Gazani , one can see the broken pieces
of the temple on the floor.
After taking a round
of temple and we clicked pictures of the surroundings.
After that we left for Chand Baori.

DeleteNice pICS Mahesh Ji with a very short story. I had visited Chand Baori first and Hardhad Mata temple thereafter. But both are adjacent to each other. Looking forward to the description of Chand Baori.
